The HyperNode is a universal probe that permit to connect a target device to the HyperManage platform.

Node composition

The HyperNode embeds all the security needed for the communication with the HyperManage server; once registered to the server, it talks exclusively to its server. The HyperManage platform uses the most recent models of HyperNodes, that permit to connect also to PC / Server consoles through a KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) interface, other than having at disposal interfaces to connect to serial-based and LAN-based devices.
Node structure

Based on a Custom main processor, the HyperNode includes dedicated hardware to perform encryption and decryption operations with the maximum security: all is obtained using specific hardware processors to guarantee the highest possible security level. Software, in fact, can be hacked into, especially if the source code is public or accessible; Hardware cannot be modified, so its behavior is fixed.

On the HyperNode with the KMV interface an hardware video subsystem is included, providing embedded video compression and decoders. The KVM subsystem is also isolated to grant that only the HyperNode itself can access the console of the server connected to it.

Different HyperNode models have been produced, to provide a different set of interfaces, in order to permit to meet the environment requirements, based on the type of target devices to connect to.

One Node, different types of connection to devices

Serial port Console based devicesSerial Connection

The HyperNode can be connected to a serial port of the device to be accessed allowing true remote physical console access.
On the user accessing side, upon connection, a virtual serial port will be created on the user PC, allowing to run the maintenance application of the device to control, as the user was physically connected to the Console of the remote device.
All communication between the HyperNode are strongly encrypted using the highest standard of security.

Lan based devices LAN Connection

The HyperNode can be used to access a device via a LAN port.
The HyperNode can be connected to a dedicated maintenance LAN port of the device via a dedicated LAN port on the HyperNode creating a physical separation between the local area network and the target device. This way only encrypted data is visible on the local LAN creating a de-facto end to end encryption path between the accessing user and the accessed device. On the user side, upon connection, a virtual IP address will be created and an on-demand VPN will be established between the user and the HyperNode itself.
The HyperNode will forward all requests made by the user’s application to the device on the programmed service, creating a remote connection functionally comparable to a local one. The HyperNode can be also used to access several devices sitting on a local LAN where a end to end encryption is not deemed necessary.

KVM based devices

KVM ConnectionTo allow full control of a remote computer a KVM interface has been fitted on the HyperNode KVM. The KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) interface permits to gain full control of any server or PC down to the BIOS level because the video is digitized and sent over to the accessing user via an encrypted IP connection. The path used to send/receive all the data is still the encrypted one described before and used for all other connection services.
Extra features provided by the HyperNode KVM is the capability of saving a video file of the connection session performed by the user that can then be replayed if necessary for any reasons. The control of the PC/Server is complete. It is even possible to re-boot the PC/SERVER from a remote CD/DVD placed on the computer of the accessing user. All session can be recorded including Console access, LAN SSH access.
All HyperNode models permit to connect also an external PDU (Power Device Unit) that allow to remotely control the mains power of the connected device. All operations, naturally, are done in an absolutely secure and logged environment, after the authentication and authorization of the technician that is accessing the HyperManage platform.
